Basic Math Topics for Building Confidence in Math Skills
Whole Numbers
Understanding place value, rounding, and estimation is essential for boosting your confidence in math. You’ll learn how to solve operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, through engaging word problems.
Fractions & Decimals
Mastering conversion, comparison, and operations with fractions and decimals is crucial. We’ll also cover finding percentages of numbers to enhance your overall math abilities.
Geometry
Explore various shapes and learn to classify 2D and 3D figures, as well as angles. Measuring supplementary and complementary angles, along with using formulas for area and perimeter of squares, rectangles, and triangles, will further strengthen your math confidence. Additionally, we will dive into volume calculations for cubes and rectangular prisms, and work on the coordinate plane by plotting points, measuring distance, and understanding symmetry.
Pre-Algebra
In our math tutoring sessions, we’ll emphasize the order of operations (PEMDAS) using integers and variables to build your confidence. You will practice operations with positive and negative numbers, simplifying and evaluating expressions, and solving one-step and two-step equations. Understanding inequalities and the Pythagorean Theory will be part of your learning journey. We will also graph solutions on a number line and explore slope, ratios, and proportions to solve proportion problems effectively.
